The Institute for Global Tobacco Control launch of SHS (secondhand smoke) Monitoring Website
Hotel Trident, Tuesday, March 10, 2009, from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm.

The Institute for Global Tobacco Control (IGTC) at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is excited to announce the launch of a SHS (secondhand smoke) Monitoring Website. The website was created as an information platform to foster country collaboration in monitoring SHS exposure for the purposes of advocacy, evaluation and research.

The website is comprised of:
  • An overview of the purpose and types of SHS monitoring, including passive air nicotine monitoring, active particulate matter (PM) monitoring, biomonitoring, and observational monitoring.

  • Video and lecture-based training on how to conduct SHS monitoring, including proper field procedures and data entry.

  • Sample research and field work protocols that can be tailored to country and/or research needs.
  • Links to partners and other institutions providing SHS monitoring support

IGTC can work with partners in developing country-specific approaches to SHS monitoring. As resources permit, the IGTC can discuss the possibility of supporting implementation in a variety of ways.

Please join us for the launch of our website and learn about the possibilities of SHS monitoring in your country. We look forward to seeing you in Mumbai!
